Gary Greenberg explains how diagnosis for depression and prescriptions for anti-depressants have skyrocketed in recent years. The Prozac Nation is certainly depressed, but it is arguable whether or not it is a biological condition that can be treated by medication. The suggestion is that the spike in anti-depressant consumption is due more to a psycho-somatic marketing campaign than a valid treatment plan.
