Chi
Funk is a veteran american underground DJ. He made a name
for himself organizing outdoor parties in Asia in the late
90s. He has organized/played events in Taiwan, Korea, Goa,
Thailand and most recently in Barcelona, Spain. He's been
invited to play alongside trance greats like Christof, Talamasca
& John '00' Flemming. And also with top Underground DJs:
DJ Drez, Sex In Fusion: Rebeka Brown (RBK) & Patrick
Grau
He
is now one of the top House/Breaks DJs in Taiwan, playing
most of the top clubs and parties over the past few years,
including: Urban Funk, CU, Bobo, Eden, Penthouse, Liquid Lounge,
Grooveyard, Moon Island, Underpark, Swank, Malfunktion, Samadhi,
Viva, Passion & Soundgarden. And he was the first foreign
music director at a major Taiwanese club in 2005 at Bobo.
But he is still best know for his own Chi Funk/Revevolution
Parties at independent locations like: Da Shan, Golden Sand
Beach & Golden Plaza Rooftop Garden--and also for starting
the whole Spring Scream party craze with the 1st rave that
weekend in Ken Ding in 1999 and some massive follow ups at
Bai Sha Wan in 2000 & 2001
Best
known for his signature prime time house sets, he plays a
wide variety of music, including: House: funky, old skool,
latin, tribal, progressive; A wide range of Funky Breaks &
Techno, from old skool to nu; Psy Trance, and also a wicked
Raga/Downtempo chill out set. His mix has matured into an
aggressive blend of scratches, samples, cross fades &
climactic effects that ad an extra dimension to all his sets.
And he has recently been heard playing Freestyle Scratch Sets
at Urban Funk Parties that range the full gambit of funk,
from hip hop to house, reggae to d n b. Chi Funk is an old
skool, underground DJ who could really give a fuck what genre
a track has been labeled under, or what the present music
establishment has deemed viable for the dancefloors of the
world this party season. He only asks one question of his
music: Does it rock!
