Everyone, thank you so much. that was a nearly perfect
party--the big bashes at golden plaza have been nice--but we really
luv the smaller, warmer, more intimate outdoor parties--and we all
finaly had one that was just as big and good as the massive city
parties we'v had over the last couple years--thanx everyone so much
for making the effort to get out--i hope everyone now realizes what
we mean by a big small party--big enuf to fill the venue and have
something happening everywhere all the time--small enuf to keep
everyone safe and not draw attention like all the big parties that
have been busted recently...
i think it was a case of a lot of people
getting involved, and all of them contributing as much as they
could. here's a partial list of those responsible for Rootz
success... .janice and jono brought about 100 people up the hill
on bus and bike without a hitch (1st time thats gone so
smoothly) .happy hippy chix brought
benny from tainan +andy & tony from gao shung spent all day
putting up decorations .dj.bherenow
brought the ice.reggae.drums .dj.tbone
played hip hop.drums.berimbau and worked behind the bar for a
bit .the sundance kid showed up early
with friends from taipei and helped us finish hanging the
decorations b4 playing a wicked debut set of
funky.tripy.acid.breakz... .team
samadhi sold 50 adv tickets.brought a massive crew of new
taiwanese faces. and proved they are the premier party performance
team, with 10 dancers spinning every kind of lite and fire they
could find .nadj & banshee spun
some wicked fire, helped with the decor.worked at the bar and picked
up trash for a few hours after the party .scot from Lux Live Sound Systm--got that live
performance together on a few days notice and gave us our first
"band" performance ever, with guitars.drums.vocals .all the djs
were hot as hell, after winter hibernation and all the lame parties
in ken ding this year: alix d. played
some wicked funk--Saucey proved himself
as one of the top djs in taiwan, playing an incredible set of funk
and breakz at his chifunk debut--Tom
played one of the funkiest, pure classic techno sets ever in taiwan,
reminding us of the lite, funky side of techno that originated in
detroit, as opposed to all the dark minimal rifts we'v been defened
with by other taiwanese techno djs--and rainbowarrior played a classic morning set,
taking us from classic techno @ 140bpm thru the psychadelik sunrise
trance up to 150b, then on to dnb/jungle, just under 180b, b4 taking
it back down into some mellower progressive house grooves after
dawn... .bar king bob missed the
boat.jumped on a plane, then in a taxi, showed up at 7:30am, and
played his best set ever for chi funk from 8~10am, luvly latin and
afro percussive house tunez, filling the morning with
lite... .and special thanx to you,
who, in the end, determine how the party goes--it takes a special
community, not just a small group of organizers, to pull off an
event with such a peaceful and positive
vibe...
.keep working on
the environment please: still had lots of
garbage outside the 10 bins provided--i know its hard when your
havin fun, but its worth it when you get to return to the same
beautiful spot every year--try to keep it that way...and keep making
an effort to get out earlier--more than
half the people still missed to early performances and djs--anyway,
the more people we get out for that, the more we can put into
it--and the more muzik we can provide for you...
we were very encouraged by the support and
contributions at this party--it has given us added motivation to
make every party the best--we'll do as many as we can b4
rainbowarrior leaves in sept--we got at least one more comin on the
beach, one at the pool possibly, one in the city and still the
outside chance of one in a temple b4 we go...
check back for pix, movie and info on where all
these wicked folx will be perfroming next--it will all be slowly
posted as its ready over the next week or
so...
and get ready for:

Great party.
Good vibe, great music. Even the sun cooperated by not rising in
all it's blistering heat and cornea frying madness. The James Brown
was a nice treat. Mad props to you and yours
What a great location for a party at Da Shan. I thoroughly
enjoyed it, as I'm sure nearly everyone did
so ya do know what i'm talking about regarding the dashan
party. i also hope they're all like that, cuz it seemed like nothing
went undone/unnoticed at dashan. count me in for june
just wanted you to know that i thought saturday's party
was one of the best that i've been to. everything came together at
that party, if you know what i mean. - jk.
